The Ticket Taker at the Warner Theater in Morgantown, WV

www.funphotoworkshops.com

This image was taken at the old Warner Theater in Morgantown, WV for my workshop there in April.  We did a pin up style shoot, found some old ticket stubs, and put the beautiful Jennifer Blosser behind the counter. I wanted her to have a look like you'd see on someone's face who was bored of working at her job....and I believe she pulled it off.  Fun times!

Camera settings: Nikon D800, 1/60 sec at f/4.0, 35mm at ISO 4000, flash did not fire.  Taken at 4:34pm.

Road to Heaven by Jason Lanier

This was taken in the Glencoe Highlands back in January of this year during the most amazing sunrise I've ever seen in my life.  I first set up and captured my "Heaven's Breath" image and then hiked down further to find different amazing things to pair with the sunrise.  It had been raining that morning so there were still puddles on this old dirt road that hikers use.

So I set up a shot to capture the road as part of the sunrise and incorporate the colors as well.  What you see here is a natural tone and color to the image.  I didn't alter the road and make it purple, this is a natural reaction to the colors of the sky and sunrise above.  Hope you like it!

Camera settings: Nikon D800, 1/80 sec at f/4.0, 16mm at ISO 250, flash did not fire.  Taken at 7:44am on January 6, 2013 by Jason Lanier in Glencoe Scotland.

What you missed at today's meet up in Oceanside

Today's Meet Up in Oceanside was amazing, and here's the proof!  We had an absolutely awesome time shooting the sunset and using our tripods to slow down the shutter and do long exposure.  I showed the group how to use neutral density filters for awesome shots as I did in this one here.  We truly had beginners to pros and everyone had a blast. Next meet up is next Wednesday in Los Angeles for a model shoot!

Little House in the Valley from Glencoe, Scotland

This image was taken in the Glencoe highland in Scotland after an amazing sunrise.  This little cabin sat there at the bottom of these massive mountains and I just loved how it came out as a contrast by using the black and white.  Hope you like it!

Next Workshop: Las Vegas, Nevada- right after WPPI

Learning to hunt in Africa by Jason Lanier

This image was taken in Kruger National Park just as the sun was beginning to set.  There was a lioness with three cubs walking around in the savanna when along came a 2-ton African Buffalo.  For those of you who don't know, lions and buffaloes hate each other.  The two cubs here started wandering off to explore and observe the buffalo seen in the distance, and it just made me think of what must be going through their little heads at this moment.  When given the opportunity buffaloes will actually take their horns and pound their heads into the ground in an effort to kill lion cubs if their parents aren't too nearby.  Of course the lions do their fair share of damage to buffalo herds as well.  Hence the reason why they hate each other.

Witnessing nature and wildlife unspoiled in Africa is the treat of a lifetime.  I'm building a photo safari workshop for Africa at the end of this year.  Can't wait to see what we'll see this time!

Next Workshop: Las Vegas, Nevada- right after WPPI

Camera settings: Nikon D700, 1/125 sec at f/6.3, 200mm at ISO 200, flash fired.  Taken at 5:56pm on March 11, 2011 by Jason Lanier in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Flowergirl by Jason Lanier

This image was taken yesterday at my wedding for Delano and April before the wedding.  Our bride was getting her make up done, and I was setting up the room I captured this shot of the little flowergirl resting her head as she waited. This was shot with natural light coming in from the window and is completely unposed.  Hope you like it!

Next Workshop: Las Vegas, Nevada- right after WPPI

Landscape Photography Workshops by Jason Lanier

My workshops encompass so many different things because that's really who I am as a photographer.  I'll work on many different things like landscapes, weddings, fashion etc. on a workshop because I really believe they all tie in together. Many people say my wedding work is like landscapes with people in it...and I'm fine with that review...:)

This image was taken at my workshop in Tucson, Arizona.  It was a beautiful, clear, COLD night, but we found this spot and just had to take 45 minutes to capture the magic.  No lighting was used for this image, just using what Mother Nature gave us....thanks to all who came!

Next workshop: Las Vegas, Nevada- right after WPPI

Camera settings: Nikon D800, 1/100 sec at f/4.5, 16mm at ISO 1600, flash did not fire.  Taken at 7:27pm on February 12, 2013 by Jason Lanier.

Anchorage Sunset by Jason Lanier

This image was taken just outside of Anchorage Alaska on the road that leads down towards Whittier and Seward. During the summer you have to wait a LONG time to get a sunset because it stays light for so long, but when they come they are almost always worth it!

Next Workshop: Las Vegas, Nevada- right after WPPI!!!

Camera settings: Nikon D700, 1/160 sec at f/5.6, 105mm at ISO 100, flash did not fire.  Taken at 10:11pm on July 7, 2012 by Jason Lanier.

Giving Way to Nature...

This image was taken in Scotland on a small lake that I found off of a country road.  I love how the dock isn't completely submerged in the water, and that it's tilting.  Almost as if the lake is taking the dock back into it's grasp one step at a time. Scotland truly is amazing...if you haven't gone, add it to the bucket list...:)

Next Workshop: Las Vegas immediately after WPPI

Camera settings: Nikon D800, 1/100 sec at f/4.0, 16mm at ISO 125, flash did not fire.  Taken at 3:02pm on January 5, 2013 by Jason Lanier.
