Handling the Covid-19 Situation with Jason Lanier Workshops
Hello Friends!
I hope you're all staying safe and braving the Covid-19 situation wherever you are at in the world. Here in the United States are getting into the thicker part of this situation and I wanted to address how we're handling things here at Jason Lanier Workshops and what you can expect from us going forward.
As a small business owner I am very sensitive to how devastating a lockdown like this can be for other small business owners out there. We as photographers do not have a corporate or government safety net. We are our own marketing team, sales team, website designers, work editors, and office management. We don't have Paid Time Off, Sick Pay, or Holiday Pay to rely on. When something like this happens, we have to be smart to keep ourselves and those around us safe, but we also have to continue to find a way to pay the bills and survive.
To that end, here are the Frequently Asked Questions as to how we're handling all of this.
*Are Workshops/Photo Walks Canceled or Postponed? NO. As long as we are able to continue to travel and we are allowed in your state or country, we will be there!
*What safety precautions are you taking at the workshops? We are meeting in groups of 10 people or less as outlined as a recommendation by the government. We have a strict no touching policy and do not allow people to attend the workshop who are showing symptoms of the corona virus as outlined by the government. We are maintaining a social distance of 6 feet or more and are frequently disinfecting gear, as guided by the CDC.
*What happens if I'm sick and can't attend? You will receive a credit towards a future workshop that can be used within 1 year of the date of your workshop. You can even get a credit if you just don't want to come because you prefer to not travel at this time. No proof of illness is required to receive the credit.
*When will I know if my workshop/photo walk is canceled? If for some reason we are barred from traveling to your event and/or we are prohibited from meeting in groups of 10 or less we will notify the specific affected event attendees immediately. At that point in time we will determine a make up date and plan.
*What should I do now? Just wait? Well, yes. The entire world is in a holding pattern right now. Our next event isn't until a month from now and Emily and I won't know what will happen until we see how travel has been affected as we get closer to the event. The world was a far different place just one month ago and it may be a far different place a month from now. We may be in total lockdown, OR we may be on our way to getting back to normal. So, we just wait and see. If you don't know what to do with your individual travel plans and/or this whole corona situation gives you anxiety and you wish to opt out of your specific event now for a credit, we are happy to do that as well.
From the heart these are historic times for all of us. As long as we don't panic and we keep our senses we will all make it through this together. Emily and I will manage our business in a safe and sensible way. But we are NOT shutting down our business. We will continue to spread the love and education of photography to whoever wishes to share it with us.
So, if you're bored, don't know what to do during this time where there isn't much to do, feel free to spend some time with us in a small group where we promote safe and clean hygiene practices...and have great fun with photography.
Sincerely,
Jason
