Being your own Lighting Assistant

www.funphotoworkshops.com

While I many times do have assistants at my shoots, there are many times when I don't.  And when I started off in photography I couldn't get any assistants and so I had to figure out how to shoot on my own.  So my style is really predicated upon being able to get amazing results, even with no help.  This production shot was taken yesterday at my Miami Workshop where I put a Rotolight onto the end of a Monopod and lit the model while still being able to shoot. This was taken 1 minute before the cops showed up and threw us out....

Best Production Shot Competition

This amazing image was provided to me courtesy of Steven Squires who is one of my photographers and is also affectionately known as, "Squirts."  Or if you're being formal you would call him, "Ginger Squirts."

This image was taken at my workshop in Nevada last month.  I'm going to hold a competition for the best production shot taken at one of my workshops this year.  The Page will vote on the images to determine a winner in concert with my thoughts as well.  The winner will win something super cool that I will decide upon once the competition begin.

Thanks for the great shot Squirts!!

Supernatural Group Shot

www.funphotoworkshops.com

This is a group shot taken at the Moundsville State Penitentiary in Moundsville, West Virginia.  I always love doing the group shots, and just like I try to do at weddings, we always try to make them a little fun and different than just sitting there.  Thanks to all who came!  I'm trying to set one up for my workshop in Miami....

Victory is mine!!!

I can't remember what I was celebrating at this moment even though it just happened yesterday.  Maybe I converted a Canon user over to Nikon.  Production image from my workshop near Vegas.

This is a production still of me shooting at an abandoned house/shack near Las Vegas at my workshop this week.  We had so many great models, photographers, and assistants that it just made for a truly unforgettable workshop.  Thanks to all those who came.  Up next is North Carolina!!

Rocky Mountain National Park and Stanley Hotel 2-Day Shooting Workshop

Come join award winning photographer Jason Lanier for two days of shooting bliss as we explore the wiles of Rocky Mountain National Park!  We are also planning on swinging by the historic Stanley Hotel where Stephen King received his inspiration for "The Shining."  Click below to register now!

http://www.meetup.com/Meet-Ups-with-Jason-Lanier/events/105262262/

This will be a mix workshop for both landscape and people photography lovers.  We will spend a good time on both as we shoot the beauty of the earth while also incorporating models into the shots.  Models are not allowed in Rocky Mountain National Park so all model shoots will take place outside of the park.

I can't wait to see you all there!!!

Having fun at a workshop

Just wanted a post a shot from one of my workshops, this one was from my South Carolina workshop at the Atalaya Castle.  In this shot I used two off camera Speedlights which were attached to Pocket Wizards so they fired on the shutter click.  I didn't use Photoshop to brighten the boxes, simply all done in the camera.  Hope you like it!
