Shooting a photojournalistic wedding at the Christmas House Inn and Gardens

www.weddingphotographersinsoutherncalifornia.com

Every bride is different, and it's very important to understand their individual needs.  As an artist it's easy to get caught up into yourself, and to think that you should take no direction.  Well, I learned a long time ago that there is a balance between artistic vision and client needs and desires.  Yes, my clients hire me because want my style of work which is GREAT!  But it's also very important to listen to your clients and what STYLE of your work they are looking for...

My wedding couple here wanted a completely unposed wedding photography product.  Some photographers might be concerned at such a notion...but when you think about 80% of your wedding is photojournalism anyways right?  You can't pose the first dance, the daddy daughter, toasts, reception, etc.

This moment was captured following an emotional ceremony and as they left the ceremony site they just couldn't help but embrace for a passionate moment with each other.  Thank you for letting me shoot your wedding Kristin and Chad!

Camera settings: Nikon D700, 1/200 sec at f/5.6, 105mm at ISO 1600, flash did not fire.  Taken at 5:33pm.

Wedding Ceremony from the Bridesmaid Perspective at the Christmas House

www.christmashouseweddings.com

This image was taken at my wedding Saturday at the Christmas House Inn and Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.  I knelt down next to the bridesmaids and framed the bride and groom with the bouquets. This image was only processed with Lightroom as the bride wanted very natural looking shots.  Hope you like it!

Bride with tattoos at the Christmas House Inn Wedding

www.jasonlanierweddingphotography.com

www.christmashouseweddings.com

Some brides cover up their tattoos, others purposely buy dresses that show them off...:)  I just love how Kristin who was married just last week decided to showcase her ink.  I really love how in this shot you see the rose on her shoulder next to the huge bouquet of beautiful flowers.  And you can also see how she chose a low cut dress in the back to show off her tattoo there as well.  What a beautiful bride, awesome wedding, and amazing couple...

Camera settings: Nikon D700, 1/250 sec at f/5.3, 105mm at ISO 2000, flash did not fire.  Taken at 5:01pm.

This image was taken at my wedding for Mitch and Cassaundra at the Christmas House Inn and Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.  Such a beautiful moment when the wedding couple clutches hands together during the ceremony.  It's the reason why I love shooting weddings....I just love being able to witness the love that people have for each other every time I shoot...

Camera settings: Nikon D700, 1/125 sec at f/5.6, 300mm at ISO 2000, flash did not fire.  Taken at 6:19pm.

LDS Temple Wedding Cover Image

www.ldstempleweddings.com

This image is of the beautiful bride Kristina Nash and is the cover image for my new website www.ldstempleweddings.com.  This background effect wasn't created in Photoshop....it was done out of necessity because of the environment that was present on her wedding day.  They were married at the Newport Beach Temple and we went down to Laguna Beach afterwards to do their couple shoot.

Well, a THICK layer of fog rolled in, but due to it being mid-day the sun was still fighting to get through.  By knowing how to expose for this situation and by using my flash we were able create this image...she was actually standing on top of a rock at the beach for me to get this angle.  Later on we had their Reception at the Christmas House Inn and Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga.

Brides, make sure to hire photographers who know what they are doing for your wedding day.  It DOES make a difference...:)

(Not disparaging newer photographers.  If you are new, get some experience under a mentor before you start shooting paid weddings)...:)

Camera settings: Nikon D3, 1/125 sec at f/22, 28mm at ISO 800, flash fired.  Taken at 3:45pm.

This is one of my favorite images taken at the Christmas House because the wedding couple just seems so incredibly happy with each other.  This was at the wedding for Tom and Kristen and they were (and still are) an amazing couple.

Camera settings: Nikon D3, 1/250 sec at f/6.3, 28mm at ISO 320, flash did not fire.

This little ring bearer at the Christmas House Inn gave us all we could handle...and a TON of great shots! As I was shooting the ceremony I caught him checking out the ring, much to the chuckle of the wedding guests...
