Road to Heaven by Jason Lanier

This was taken in the Glencoe Highlands back in January of this year during the most amazing sunrise I've ever seen in my life.  I first set up and captured my "Heaven's Breath" image and then hiked down further to find different amazing things to pair with the sunrise.  It had been raining that morning so there were still puddles on this old dirt road that hikers use.

So I set up a shot to capture the road as part of the sunrise and incorporate the colors as well.  What you see here is a natural tone and color to the image.  I didn't alter the road and make it purple, this is a natural reaction to the colors of the sky and sunrise above.  Hope you like it!

Schwangau Germany by Jason Lanier

This image was taken in the little town of Schwangau, Germany which is where the Neushwanstein Castle resides.  The fog and clouds were way too thick to capture the castle on this morning, so I found this little cabin and waited for the sun to shine through, illuminating the fog from above.  I only had a 30-second window to capture this image as the clouds closed up very quickly and this shot was gone....sometimes the best thing you can do as a photographer is sit and wait, and hope that Mother Nature cooperates with you...

Alaskan Lighthouse...in the middle of the ocean

This image was taken on the Alaska Marine Highway between Haines and Juneau.  I just loved seeing this lighthouse sitting out there in this huge ocean with gigantic mountains behind it.  I really loved the sharp peak that was above it that made this picture really pop.  When you're choosing a subject or foreground for your image you can never forget to take into account the background as well.  Hope you like it!
