Elegantly Trashing a Dress

This shot was so much fun and its so appropriate because it was shot in Maui, exactly where I am right now!  We put the bride on top of the rocks (we made sure she was safe), I positioned her parasol, used her body to block the sun behind her, and nailed this shot while the wave was coming in...this is another shot I submitted to MSN.

This is the way a dress should look after being trashed

This was taken in Pomona, CA during my trash the dress shoot for Danielle.  We were so fortunate to get this train passing and we grabbed this shot just as it came.  This is why it's so important to be able to adjust your camera settings quickly because you never know when you're gonna have to do something really quickly like I had to do here.  This is a proper trash the dress session folks...:)

Hippie Style Trash the Dress

In this shot that was submitted for consideration for a spot on MSN, Melissa and I went to the Santa Rosa Plateau and had a blast.  We took her real wedding bouquet, tore it apart and smeared the flowers all over her dress.  It was awesome!

Taking a Mud Bath- Trash the Dress Submission

Another shot that was submitted to MSN for consideration on their Trash the Dress spot.  In this shot Tiffany was taking a bit of a bath in a dry lake bed thanks to 5 gallons of water that we brought.  I just love the effect it gives on the ground. And yes, it's real...:)

Trash the Dress Photo Submission

Just today I submitted a number of images for consideration on a spot for MSN where they will be highlighting trash the dress shots by photographers.  I thought I'd share a few with you guys as we go throughout the day just for kicks and giggles.  Hope you like it!

This shot is of the beautiful bride Danielle during her trash the dress shoot in Pomona California.  Not only did we smear dirt and grease all over her but we also ripped and cut her dress to bits, and then started pouring motor oil all over it!  I already know that some people don't "get" why brides and photographers trash dresses.  If you are one of these fine people just close your eyes for this shot...:)

Trash the Dress Haunted House Style!

This dress was torn to bits in front of our eyes!  The bride Randi agreed to trash her real wedding dress and we had fun with it and did it with a Halloween theme.  This is a composite shot of multiple images taken with a tripod and then put together.  Happy Halloween!

Trashing the Dress at a Jason Lanier Workshop

This is a production image taken yesterday at my trash the dress session at my West Virginia Workshop.  My great friend Vanden King has a tremendous farm where we went and shot, and this is done in front of an old coal mine that's something like 150 years old.  I can't thank everyone enough for coming and participating and especially Vanden for letting us use his farm and for Megan and her amazing modeling skills.  And yes, that's my big noggin you see in the left side of the shot...
