Swanson River, Alaska

This image was taken at the Swanson River in Alaska which is a beautiful area near Captain Cook's Beach in the Kenai Peninsula.  For this shot I used a neutral density filter to slow down the shutter to give the water a creamier look and bring out some of the color from the sky into the water.  The best thing is you have to always be alert for bears, so no relaxing too much while you're shooting!

Trees of Life by Jason Lanier

This shot was taken nearly 5 years ago in Maui, Hawaii and for the first time is being published.  This is why you keep raw files guys.  Had I tortured this image with my editing from 5 years ago it would have been a tragic loss to this piece.  The fog was rolling in during sunset and I was shooting in Poli Poli which is a wooded area on the hills of the Haleakala volcano in Maui.  The sun could just barely break through to shine it's light on the trees, yet the fog was still strong enough to give it a very different feeling than the typical sunset...and it really diffused the light which was awesome.

This image and more will be part of my new landscape website/store and I can't wait to unveil it to you guys.

Austrian Alps by Jason Lanier

This image was taken in the Austrian, Alps in between Innsbruck Austria and Schwangau, Germany last week.  It is such an amazing stretch of road driving through the Alps and you have to be careful to not drive off the road because it is so beautiful that you can easily get distracted.  While driving along the road I spotted this small cabin mixed in these huge trees and hiked down so I could get a better shot of it.  For this image I actually tilted the shot because it made the angle of the trees much more dynamic for the viewer.  I hope you like it!
